2020 Vision
So we’re 7 days into the New Year! Many resolutions were made and many have already fallen by the wayside. I’ve heard many claiming 2020 was going to be their year. If we really think about it, every year is our year. Maybe 2020, resonates with us because we think of perfect vision, or because it is the beginning of a new decade, or simply because the numbers written together just look kind of cool; whatever inspires you take hold and run with it.
When your eyes open in the morning, what are some of the first thoughts running through your mind? Do you take time to recognize the gift you’ve been given simply by waking? Experience gratitude, start your day with it. All you have to do is think, there are those who do not wake, those who wake cold or hot because they have no home nor bed, those who are unable to stand up; you get the point.
Our vision for 2020 may be grand and hopefully we have set goals and we will achieve most of them. But remember, hindsight is 20/20, unfortunately we do not have the gift to see the future. Woody Allen’s words still ring true, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.”
As we reflect on the past, as one tends to do when a new year comes in, we see victories, successes, laughter, tears, mistakes, failure and so much more. We are looking at our lives. We did not meet every goal we set, some of the dreams we had did not come true, and there were surprises we never expected and they were wonderful. For every bump we experienced, there was also smooth sailing, in the end things tend to balance. Would we know the glorious feeling happiness lends us if we did not experience the pain of sadness?
Starting each day with gratitude is a great beginning to a new year, continuing to experience gratitude throughout each day will open your eyes to so many experiences. Living in each moment is a great way to live the new year. Some rules are made to broken. Take the road less traveled, you never know what you may encounter. Dance—-it doesn’t matter if everyone is watching. March to the beat of your drummer. Laugh—–it is contagious. Let things go. Love freely and completely. Claim 2020 as your year—–IT IS!
